What We Believe
We believe the Bible. Among other important elements of our faith we maintain that the Bible is the infallible and inspired Word of God. What we believe the Bible teaches may be found fully expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith, and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. These documents have been a principal expression of the faith of most Protestants since they were written in the mid 1600's. They are a "form of sound words"--as the Bible says we are to follow, "Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 1:13). We use them to clearly express our faith for the purposes of maintaining unity, peace, and enduring soundness of faith in the church.
The Bible teaches what we are to believe about God and what we must do to be saved and serve him. It teaches that God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal and unchangeable in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth. It teaches that in order to escape the wrath and curse of God due to us for sin, God requires of us faith in Jesus Christ, repentance unto life and the diligent use of the Bible, the sacraments, and prayer.
Therefore everyone who would be right with God and be granted everlasting life must come to God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We will be forgiven because Jesus Christ offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins and believing in him our Father in heaven counts what Jesus did as ours and includes us in him. We are saved from our sins to know and serve the living God not on the basis of anything we can do in and of ourselves but salvation is all of God's mercy and love that He extends to us through faith in Christ, with a new heart and a new life by the Holy Spirit--a life with God that never ends.
We invite you to come and worship and learn of the true and Living God.
